Set time for Exercise

We find it easy to make time in our schedules for assignments, meetings and other work, but few of us think about scheduling time for the important things in life.

When you are trying to lose weight, exercise is a priority. That means that you need to think about where in your day you’ll fit in time for exercise. If you don’t take a conscious decision about when to exercise, you’ll find that you frequently skip exercise sessions and fall behind on your weight loss goals. It’s important to schedule a set time for exercising. Make sure that you do exercise during that time, no matter what.

Many people ask when they best time to exercise is. The truth is, there’s no single answer to that question. Different times suit different people.

Experts claim that the best time of day to exercise is in the morning. People who exercise first thing in the morning are more likely to stick to an exercise schedule. In addition, working out first thing in the morning gives you the glow of satisfaction, and makes the rest of the day go smoothly. In addition, if you schedule your workout in the morning, you are likely to face fewer distractions and fewer emergencies which come your way to prevent you from exercising.

I personally have found working out in the evening to be the best for me. That’s because I come home from work, change into exercise gear and hop on the elliptical. It’s a matter of convenience for me – think about what time in the day would be most convenient for you. It might be right after dropping off the kids at school, when you have the house to yourself, or in the afternoon.

One thing that I have found to be a bad time is right before bed-time. At night you are generally at the lowest energy point of the day. You have a lot of accumulated stress and worries from the day, and are looking forward to sleep. In addition, you will not be able to put enough energy into your workout.

Whatever time of day you choose, make sure that you prioritize your workout. Don’t allow any excuses to come in your way. In fact, try to pre-empt any problems you might have when you want to exercise. For instance, if you worry that your children might need your help with something when you exercise, designate your husband to take care of them. If you think you might be too tired to exercise in the afternoon, work out in the morning.

Set up a recurring appointment to exercise. Then keep that appointment, just like you would keep any other appointment in your life.
